Cookie Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

1. What this policy covers

Cookies are small pieces of data stored in your browser. This policy explains which ones NearBuyYou uses, why, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Essential cookies

These keep the site working and can't be switched off, since the site can't function properly without them:

  • Sign-in session — keeps you logged in as you move between pages, so you're not asked to sign in again on every request.

We don't currently offer a way to reject these, because doing so would mean you couldn't stay signed in or place an order.

3. Functional cookies

These make the site more convenient but aren't strictly necessary:

  • Saved location — remembers the postcode or area you last searched, so returning visitors see local listings immediately instead of being asked again.

4. Third-party cookies

A couple of features on NearBuyYou load content from other services, which may set their own cookies while you're using them:

  • Stripe — when you pay or a seller sets up payouts, Stripe's own checkout pages may set cookies for fraud prevention. These are set on Stripe's domain, not ours, and are covered by Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • Mapbox — the interactive map on the homepage and listing pages loads map tiles from Mapbox, which may use cookies or similar storage as part of serving that map.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — used on sign-up, log-in, and password reset to confirm you're a real person rather than an automated bot. It may set a cookie or use similar browser storage to do this. This one is required to sign up or log in — without it, we can't tell your request apart from an automated attack.

We don't use these services for advertising, and we don't run any analytics or advertising cookies of our own.

5. No analytics or advertising cookies — yet

At the moment, NearBuyYou doesn't use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking cookies. If that changes in the future, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent before any non-essential tracking cookie is set, as UK law requires.

6. Controlling cookies

Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies will likely stop sign-in and checkout from working. You can also clear your saved location at any time by searching a new postcode.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. For anything else, contact info@nearbuyyou.com.
